Meccan, early. A short, urgent surah about how quickly the whole of a life will seem to have passed.
✦ The story
After the oaths comes Musa عليه السلام sent to Pharaoh with an instruction that reveals the whole method: *"Say to him: would you be willing to purify yourself?"* An invitation, phrased as a question, given to a tyrant.
Pharaoh's answer was *"I am your most exalted lord"*, and the Quran's verdict is two words: *Allah seized him as an example for the Hereafter and the first life.*
Then the surah asks whether creating you is really harder than creating the sky He raised and proportioned. And it ends on the Day itself, when people will feel that their whole life on earth lasted no longer than an evening or a morning.
