✦ Why this name
Ta-Ha — two letters that open the surah. Some early scholars read them as a form of address to the Prophet ﷺ; the letters themselves are among those whose meaning is left with Allah.
✦ When it came
Meccan, early. This is the surah 'Umar ibn al-Khattab رضي الله عنه read in his sister's house when he had gone out intending to kill the Prophet ﷺ — and accepted Islam the same day.
✦ The story
The second verse sets the tone for everything: *"We did not send down the Quran to you to cause you distress."*
Then Musa عليه السلام, and the Quran slows right down to tell it. A man lost at night with his family, who sees a fire in the distance and goes to fetch a burning branch — and finds his Lord instead. *"Indeed, I am your Lord, so remove your sandals."* He is given a task far beyond him and answers with the du'a every nervous person has borrowed since: *"My Lord, expand for me my chest, ease my task, and untie the knot from my tongue."*
He asks for his brother. He is given him. He goes to Pharaoh and is told to *speak to him gently.* The magicians see the truth, prostrate immediately, and choose death over taking it back.
Then, after the sea, the calf — and Harun عليه السلام held by the beard by his own furious brother. The surah's final instruction is quiet and practical: *"Say: My Lord, increase me in knowledge."*

Musa sees a fire, finds his Lord, is given the staff and the hand, asks for Harun, and is told to speak to Pharaoh gently.
