Surah 93 · The Morning Hours · 11 verses · meccan
The Morning Brightness — ad-Duha, the light of mid-morning, sworn by in the first verse.
The story
The Prophet ﷺ felt very sad because he had not heard from Allah for a while, and people were being unkind about it. Then Allah said: I have not left you. I never stopped loving you. Remember when you were an orphan and I looked after you?
How it unfolds
AYAH 1-3
He has not left you
The oath by morning and night, and the denial of abandonment.
AYAH 4-8
Your own life as evidence
Orphan and sheltered, lost and guided, poor and enriched.
AYAH 9-11
So pass it on
The orphan, the one who asks, and the favour to be spoken of.
Verses to carry
- 93:3"Your Lord has not taken leave of you, nor has He detested you." For anyone who feels Allah has gone quiet.
- 93:5"And your Lord is going to give you, and you will be satisfied."
- 93:9"So as for the orphan, do not oppress him."
Remember this
If you feel far from Allah, it does not mean He has gone anywhere.
Talk about it
Allah reminded the Prophet ﷺ of all the times He had helped him before. What is a time Allah helped you?
