Surah Al-Mulk
Surah 67 · The Sovereignty · 30 verses · meccan
The Sovereignty — al-Mulk, from the opening verse: "Blessed is He in whose hand is dominion."
The story
Allah invites you to look at the sky and try to find a single mistake in it. Then look again. Then again. Your eyes will get tired before you find one — because there are none.
How it unfolds
AYAH 1-5
Death and life as a test
Dominion in His hand, and creation examined for a single flaw.
AYAH 6-11
The regret of those who did not think
"If only we had listened or reasoned, we would not be among the companions of the Blaze."
AYAH 15-24
Walk the earth
The earth made tame, birds holding themselves aloft, and hearing, sight, and hearts given.
AYAH 28-30
The water question
The closing question that no rival power can answer.
Verses to carry
- 67:2"He created death and life to test which of you is best in deed." Quality, not quantity.
- 67:15"Walk among its slopes and eat of His provision." Reliance on Allah that involves your legs.
- 67:3"Return your vision — do you see any breaks?"
Remember this
Allah made death and life to see who does the *best* work — not who does the most.
Talk about it
Go outside tonight and look at the sky. Can you find anything wrong with it?
