Surah Al-Baqarah

The Cow — from the story in verses 67–73, where the Children of Israel were told to sacrifice a cow and kept asking questions instead of obeying.
The story
This is the longest surah in the Quran. It tells us about Adam عليه السلام, about people long ago who were given help by Allah but forgot to say thank you, and it teaches us how to live: how to pray, how to fast, how to be fair, and how to be kind to our families.

Three kinds of hearts
The God-conscious, the openly rejecting, and the hypocrites — described longest, because they are the hardest to see.

The gifted ending
The community answers "we hear and we obey" — and is given the du'a that ends the surah.
Verses to carry
- 2:255Ayat al-Kursi — the greatest verse in the Quran, describing Allah's life, knowledge, and dominion in a single breath.
- 2:286"Allah does not burden a soul beyond what it can bear." The last verse, and the du'a a believer returns to whenever life feels too heavy.
- 2:186"When My servants ask you about Me — I am near." Placed in the middle of the fasting verses, unannounced, like a hand on the shoulder.
- 2:152"So remember Me; I will remember you." The shortest description of the whole relationship.
Remember this
Allah never asks you to do something too hard for you. He knows exactly what you can carry.
Talk about it
The very last verse says Allah never gives us more than we can handle. Can you think of a time something felt hard, but you managed it?
