The Daybreak — al-Falaq, the splitting of the dawn.

The story

This surah is a way of asking Allah to keep you safe — from scary things in the dark, from people who want to hurt you secretly, and from people who are jealous of you.

How it unfolds

  1. AYAH 1

    The Lord of daybreak

    Refuge sought with the One who splits the dawn.

  2. AYAH 2-5

    Four evils

    Creation in general, settling darkness, secret harm, and envy.

  • 113:1"Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of daybreak."
  • 113:5"And from the evil of an envier when he envies."
