Surah Al-Ikhlas
Surah 112 · The Sincerity · 4 verses · meccan
The Sincerity — al-Ikhlas. The Prophet ﷺ said it equals a third of the Quran.
The story
People asked the Prophet ﷺ: what is your God like? These four short lines were the answer. Allah is One. He does not have parents, He does not have children, and there is nothing else like Him anywhere.
How it unfolds
AYAH 1
One
Ahad — uniquely one.
AYAH 2
The Eternal Refuge
As-Samad — needing nothing, needed by everything.
AYAH 3-4
No lineage, no equal
Neither begetting nor begotten, and nothing comparable.
Verses to carry
- 112:1"Say: He is Allah, One."
- 112:2"Allah, the Eternal Refuge." As-Samad — everything turns to Him; He turns to nothing.
- 112:4"Nor is there to Him any equivalent."
Remember this
Reciting this surah is like reciting a third of the whole Quran.
Talk about it
There is nothing in the whole universe like Allah. What is the closest thing you can think of to something amazing?
