Surah Al-Kafirun

Surah 109 · The Disbelievers · 6 verses · meccan

The Disbelievers — al-Kafirun, addressed directly in the opening verse.

The story

Some people asked the Prophet ﷺ to swap religions for a year each, taking turns. He said no — clearly and politely: you have your way, and I have mine.

How it unfolds

  1. AYAH 1-5

    The refusal

The compromise declined, stated four ways so it cannot be misread.

  2. AYAH 6

    Your way and mine

    A boundary drawn without hostility.

Verses to carry

  • 109:6"For you is your religion, and for me is mine."
  • 109:2"I do not worship what you worship."

Remember this

You can be completely clear about what you believe and still be polite about it.

Talk about it

How would you explain what you believe to a friend who believes something different?
