Surah Al-Kawthar

Surah 108 · The Abundance · 3 verses · meccan

The Abundance — al-Kawthar, a river in Paradise given to the Prophet ﷺ. It is the shortest surah in the Quran.

The story

Someone was very cruel to the Prophet ﷺ and said he would be forgotten forever. Allah sent down the shortest surah in the Quran to answer him — and today the Prophet's ﷺ name is said more than anyone's in the whole world.

How it unfolds

  1. AYAH 1

    Abundance given

    Al-Kawthar granted.

  2. AYAH 2

    So pray and sacrifice

The response to a gift: worship and giving.

  3. AYAH 3

    Who is really cut off

    The insult returned.

Verses to carry

  • 108:1"Indeed, We have granted you al-Kawthar."
  • 108:2"So pray to your Lord and sacrifice." What to do when you are given a lot.
  • 108:3"Indeed, your enemy is the one cut off."

Remember this

When Allah gives you a lot, the right response is to pray and to share.
