Surah Quraysh

Surah 106 · Quraysh · 4 verses · meccan

Quraysh — the tribe of Makkah, named in the first verse.

The story

The people of Makkah travelled far away twice a year to trade, and nobody ever robbed them because they looked after the Ka'bah. Allah says: I gave you food and I kept you safe — so worship Me.

How it unfolds

  1. AYAH 1-2

    Winter and summer

The two caravans, and the security that made them possible.

  2. AYAH 3

    So let them worship

The conclusion drawn from the privilege.

  3. AYAH 4

    Fed and made safe

    Hunger and fear, both removed.

Verses to carry

  • 106:3"Let them worship the Lord of this House."
  • 106:4"Who has fed them against hunger and made them safe from fear." Two gifts, named precisely.

Remember this

Having enough to eat and feeling safe are two enormous gifts. Many people do not have them.

Talk about it

You have food and you are safe. Who could you help who does not?
